The Network of Museums for Equality

The Network of Museums for Equality (NME) was launched on June 9, 2022, to promote gender equality in museums and art centers.

The Network of Museums for Equality aims to work for equality from an intersectional gender perspective that encompasses other vulnerabilities. The Network of Museums is designed as a collaborative working space that promotes a committed, critical, diverse, and inclusive culture in museums and art centers. NME supports change and social innovation.

The museums and art centers that are part of the NME have an active ethical commitment to contributing to reversing inequality. To reach this goal, we advocate using diagnostic and self-diagnostic tools that allow for analysis and reflection on the current situation and to identify the possible areas for improvement. We encourage an ongoing planning process that integrates ideas of equality at all levels; in strategic plans, programs, and projects. MNE members aim to share concerns, document and disseminate experiences, evaluate results, and stimulate positive and inspiring actions.

We, the Network of Museums for Equality, are united by our determination to transform museums and art centers in Spain and Latin America into more egalitarian, inclusive, and democratic spaces.
